Children with Special Needs Special Friends Ministry
An informal gathering of special families will be on Sunday, November 16th from 12:45-2:45 p.m. in the Youth Room of the Faith Formation Center. If you are interested in attending please RSVP to Bruce Baumann at 972-398-5400 x4289. We want to do this on a monthly basis, providing a setting for community building and fellowship.
Special Friends
Ministry - Special Friends is a ministry that was originally organized
about 5 years ago for families with children and teens with special needs at
Seton. We invite all families to join our ministry to create fun and joyful
opportunities to connect our special kids to one another and to our whole faith
community. If you are the parent of a
child with special needs or an adult who works with special needs children or
an adult who simply has an interest in this ministry, we invite you to communicate
to us your thoughts, ideas and
enthusiasm as we plan activities and programs for our Special Friends and their
families for the coming school year! For more information,
please contact Bruce Baumann at
972-398-5400 ext. 4289.

Faith Formation
Children’s Ministry invites families to be active participants in helping their children to grow in their faith. By following the steps of catechesis, our program promotes knowledge of our faith and builds on moral development, teaches about our church, prayer, and Catholic community, and calls us all to participate in worship and to be good disciples. Children will learn that faith is a gift from God; it grows and develops throughout life, is alive in the community, and lives in our thoughts and actions.
2008-2009
Registration Information
Preschool through fifth grade Faith Formation is offered in one-hour classes at the following times:
- Sundays: 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. or 10:15 -11:15 a.m.
- Mondays: 4:30 -5: 30 p.m.
- Wednesday: 4:30 -5:30 p.m. or 6:00 -7:00 p.m.
Sacrament Preparation
The Diocesan policy is that children receive one year of Religious Education before beginning sacramental preparation classes for Reconciliation and Eucharist, traditionally celebrated in the 2nd grade. Therefore, we strongly encourage all 1st graders to begin Faith Formation. If your child is between 2nd and 5th grades and has not celebrated Baptism, Reconciliation or Eucharist, please call the Children’s Ministry office for information about sacramental preparation.

Approximately once a month from September through May, children's liturgies are celebrated in the Church on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. The Children's Choir sings at the liturgies and children serve as lectors and ushers. Children in third through fifth grade who have received First Eucharist are eligible to volunteer to be lectors, ushers, and greeters for the Children's Liturgies. Children will receive training in October and make a commitment to serve. Practice is held 1 hour before the service. For more information or to sign your child up to participate, please contact Denise Gilbert at 972-596-5505 ext. 4264.
