MISSION STATEMENT
Seton’s Ark is a part of the greater parish community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Our mission is to assist parents in the task of forming each child’s values according to the gospel. We are called to:

ASSIST children in attaining their full potential in an open trusting atmosphere through recognition of their own talents and a willingness to share with others.

RESPOND to each child’s educational, emotional, physical, and social needs as well as help them grow spiritually in an environment which fosters love of God, love of self, and love of others.

KINDLE the joy of learning that will enable each child to be creative, use problem-solving skills and questioning as part of the learning process.

GOALS & OBJECTIVES
In August, the Seton’s Ark staff will gather to discuss specific goals for the new school year.  In addition, classroom teachers will establish their own unique classroom goals. These goals will be incorporated into the goals of the entire program. All goals must reflect those of our mission statement. Goals which you will find consistently timeless throughout the program are:

  • Affirm the concept of prayer based on gratitude for all God’s gifts.
  • Provide a wide range of age-appropriate learning activities with respect for each child’s abilities and interests.
  • Provide a positive daily environment in which a child’s self-esteem is developed, nurtured, and enhanced.
  • Help all children develop friendships and social skills, which will enable them to realize they are a part of the larger faith community

CURRICULUM
Seton’s Ark believes each child is a gift from God, possessing specific talents making them unique. Their uniqueness, combined with a nurturing environment, helps them develop their self-esteem. A positive self-esteem will enable them to fully experience the world God has created. It is our wish that children will comfortably explore, create, discover and even question the world around them through hands-on thematic whole language (phonics) approach to learning. Process Art, Learning Centers, and an ever “emerging” daily curriculum are all part of the children’s daily learning experiences.

Each month, the themes will vary according to the liturgical calendar and seasons of the year. Worship celebrations are held in the Chapel (3-, 4-, and PreK-5 classes only) where parents join with their children in a wonderful expression of our love for God. You will be provided with a monthly calendar.

Music Classes are held weekly throughout the program. Spanish classes are held weekly for our 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds. Art Appreciation is offered twice yearly for our 4-and 5-year-olds. Computers are available in the 3-, 4-, and 5-year-old classes.

Because parents are the primary educators of their children, our curriculum is uniquely designed so that you may become an integral part of your child’s school day. We invite and encourage you to become involved in your child’s first educational experiences.  Monthly volunteer sign-up sheets are available in each classroom.
