Seton Listens Continues...
Working toward Social Justice by first
understanding the needs of our community
Over 130 parishioners have participated in our efforts to hear about your concerns/issues/problems that our families face every day.
The current top three issues are:
- Health Care (Costs, New Law, Eldercare),
- Church Support of our Young Adults/Youth in Promoting Attendance,
- Morality (Drugs, Negative Media Influences, Premarital Sex/Unwed Pregnancies).
Education and Unemployment are high on the list also.
We are working now to determine which of the top concerns are actionable. We have already found that a number of other congregations in the area have some of the same health care issues. We’ll be inviting participants to join with us as we meet to develop common action plans. We will also continue to hold additional “listening sessions” and encourage your participation.
For more information, contact Ann Moczygemba, 972-596-1367.
What keeps you up at night? What Challenges do you face at work or school?
Caring for an elderly parent? Spending more on health insurance each year? Saving for college? Challenging the long-term social and emotional effects of the media influences? Managing your way through the Medicare /Medicaid system? Frustrated with what is happening to our economy? Worrying about paying next month's rent? Peer Pressure?
Do your concerns seem isolated to you? They’re not!
Join us in our next 'SETON LISTENS' Session
this fall - date TBA
This evening of conversation and storytelling is for all demographics of our community - young (high school and up) and old, married, single and widowed. Through our stories, we will build stronger relationships within our community.
Spend an evening engaging in meaningful discussions with fellow members of the St. Elixzabeth Ann Seton community. From these conversations, we can affirm priorities and determine goals and actions to reach these goals.
Begin to understand and find solutions to the difficult issues facing our families and communities. Praying, Listening, Planning and Taking Action.
Working together we can make a difference!
“They are ordinary people with extraordinary gifts; they know they cannot
bear the weight of them so they lay them in the hands of God.”
Catherine Doherty
