Seton Habitat Build Update # 2: November 12 and 19, 2016
Seton’s second Habitat for Humanity build continued with our third and fourth build dates of November 12
th and the 19
th. The 19
th build date also doubled as one of the activities for our Seton Service day. The build (a duplex) is now really starting to take shape. On the November 12
th build date, most of the windows were installed and the trusses began to be hoisted in place. (The trusses are the triangular structures that support the roof.) It took a lot of coordination to lift the trusses from the ground to the top of the house. Also on the 19
th, some doors were hung and exterior insulation was put over the exterior sheathing on the outside walls. As we are into late fall, the days are getting colder with the 19
th build day starting in the 40s and ending in the 50s. By the end of the 19
th , all the trusses were up on one side of the duplex and some were up on the other side of the duplex. Here are some pictures during both build days.
In addition to the many Seton volunteers who helped on Build Days #3 and #4, the Seton Habitat Team wants to thank:
Erbert & Gerbert located at 1921 W. 15th St in Plano provided lunches for the 12th.
The Corner Bakery at Colin Creek provided lunches for the 19th.
Einstein Bros Bagels at Legacy and Independence donated coffee for the 19th.
If you are interested in donating food/lunches/drinks during the build, please contact Jessica Vieira at
Jessica.vieira@acpen.com. Seton parishioners paid for or provided wonderful lunches for the volunteers during the first build in 2015, and several are signed up for this year as well.
Go by and look at the project at 1133 G Avenue in East Plano (down the street from the Douglass Community Center). It will surely inspire you to join us!
