Cheryl Gail Barry, or "Yaya" as she was affectionately known, passed away on July 24, 2024. Born on June 18, 1949, in Huntington, NY, she was a beacon of compassion, generosity, thoughtfulness, and love. Cheryl was a person of extraordinary kindness and had the ability to see the best in every individual she encountered. Her belief in the goodness of people, mirrored in her principle of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, served as her guiding light throughout her life.
Cheryl's professional journey had its roots in the medical field, where she worked as a Phlebotomist before retiring in the 1990’s. However, her life's most significant achievements were not tied to her career but rather her innate ability to touch lives. She was a wonderful listener, always ready to lend an ear and offer advice when asked. In her later years, Cheryl loved playing bingo, cooking, and just chatting with friends. But what she cherished the most was spending quality time with her grandchildren, Brooks, Reese, and Sloane, whether it was chauffeuring them to their events or simply enjoying their company.
She resided in Plano, Texas, but had left pieces of her heart in various places she had lived, including Clearwater, Florida; Tyler, Texas; and Richardson, Texas. Cheryl's love extended beyond people to animals as well, particularly her beloved dogs, Maddie and Chloe, who she is now reunited with in Heaven. She is survived by her daughter, Candace Hickey and son-in-law Steve Hickey, their children, Brooks, Reese and Sloane, and spouse, John Barry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Adele Brooks.
As we remember Cheryl, we celebrate her life and the love she so generously shared with us all. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Cheryl may not be with us physically, but her spirit will endure and memory never fade. God Bless.
In memory of John Michael “Mike” Morgan, we pause to celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched countless hearts during his life as a husband, father, brother, grandfather, mentor, business partner, golfer, and avid hunter. His commitment to his faith and family, along with an unmatched skill set for forming strong connections, is his greatest legacy. His impact on those around him included his wife Kathy, son Johnathan, stepdaughter Katy, stepson Doug, five grandchildren, and an unrivaled number of friendships in the sporting goods industry. May he rest in peace.
Born in Big Springs, Texas on July 6, 1948, to JC & Lillamae Morgan and the oldest of seven children including brothers Rick, Bill, Don, Tom, Jim, and sister Sera. The family’s true home became Sand Springs, Oklahoma where Mike and his brothers spent many days hunting in the woods and playing golf at Osage Hills Country Club. A devout Catholic, Mike attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School, and later St. Gregory’s, before graduating college from Oklahoma State University where he was a member of the golf team.
Mike spent over 50 years in the sporting goods industry, getting his start working at The Sportsman in Tulsa for Ernie Wood, his longtime mentor and friend. He later transitioned to a sales representative role, where he found his true calling. Mike loved being on the road, where he forged lifelong friendships with his clients through golf, hunting, and fishing. His main focus was a five-state territory that included: Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. He always made his customers feel important, he cared so much about his clients’ businesses, and they knew he would always be there for them.
An avid duck hunter, he helped establish several chapters for Ducks Unlimited in Oklahoma. The 2023 hunting season was his 47th year hunting a private lake near Haskell, Oklahoma owned by close family friends. That lake, known as the “duck pond,” was his favorite place to be with close friends and his many hunting dogs over the years. Mike was also a beloved member of the Legacy Group in Plano; through his understanding and friendship he helped others make positive changes in life. Staying connected with others was his gift, he would spend his hours on the road calling everyone in his life making sure they were doing ok and seeing if they needed help with anything.
In his legacy, Mike’s integrity, caring nature, and tireless commitment to his friends and family will be cherished by all whose lives he touched. To his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless individuals who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him, we offer our deepest condolences.

Thomas Matthew Rogers, 81, of Plano, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024. He was born on September 19, 1942, in Flushing, New York, to the late Matthew & Margaret (Cadigan) Rogers. Tom grew up in the Flushing/Garden City, Long Island area. As a child he loved playing baseball and aspired to be a professional baseball player. At the age of 14, Tom started working on a chartered fishing boat where he learned the value of hard work and dedication, which allowed him to support himself to chase his dreams beyond baseball.
Tom was a 1960 graduate of Chaminade High School in Garden City, New York. He was driven to succeed at any early age, focused to achieve his dreams to be the very best version of himself. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Providence College in Rhode Island, where he was lucky enough to be the announcer for the hockey team and fell in love with the sport. Tom later earned his Law Degree from St. John’s Law School in Queens, New York in 1967. Tom began his law career at Horn & Hardart, known for the first automat cafes. After gaining a bit experience in his field, Tom worked at AllState before transferring to JCPenney in 1973. He started with them as a lawyer before transferring to Real Estate Development. With JCPenney, Tom and his family moved to Dallas, to Chicago, until finally making their home in Plano in 1992. Following many years of faithful service to JCPenney, Tom retired in 1998.
Beyond the numerous accolades above, Tom’s greatest achievement was his family. He was dedicated to his family and it held the highest priority. Tom met his future wife, Janet Tranfield, at the age of 15. He quickly knew she was the one and they eventually married on December 16, 1967. Tom was a devoted and loyal husband; he treasured Janet over their 47 wonderful years together and enjoyed the simplicity of time spent with each other. Together they enjoyed traveling the globe and exploring all of the beauties of the world. They enjoyed attending opera and Broadway shows, as well as dinners with friends. Not only was Tom an amazing husband but he was just as wonderful of a father to his two children Jennifer and Paul. He made his kids feel special, loved, and supported by the genuine care and interest that he took in their lives. Tom was always there for them with open arms, ready to encourage them and ensure they had the best opportunities in life. His guidance and presence in their lives will be remembered and cherished for years to come.
Tom had a love of sports. He loved watching soccer (futball) and was an avid Dallas Star fan, holding season tickets for over 20 years. In early years, Tom coached his kids’ sports teams which led him to become heavily involved in coaching, referring, & teaching in the years that followed. He served as a soccer referee, softball commissioner, and head of Plano Sports Authority, sharing his love for the sport and his knowledge with others. Tom loved having the ability to have a positive effect on so many kids through his involvement with sport and quickly became a father figure to so many with his acceptance of others from all walks of life.
In addition to his involvement in community sports, Tom also had a heart for charity work. He found great joy in giving back to the community in a variety of ways. Tom was grateful for his good fortune and shared this through donations to various organizations that meant a lot to him. He volunteered at the Salvation Army’s homeless shelter and at the reception desk at Medical City Plano for many years. Tom left an imprint on so many, in countless ways.

Gary Paul Tanner was born on December 13, 1946 in Watertown, New York. In his 77 years, he created a legacy of love and dedication to his family, laughter, and generosity. He could always be counted on to help out in a bind whether it was picking up grandchildren from school, watching your dog or navigating the car buying process. He was present, and usually 15 minutes early, to every game, dance recital and family event for his daughters and grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments.
He is survived by his two daughters, Brenda Crews (Sherman Steig) and Sandy Strohmeyer and their mother, his ex-wife Karen Tanner, four grandchildren Taylor (Brandon), Lindsey, Julia and Kyle and three great-grandchildren Chloe, Alayna and Kyler. Gary is also survived by his two brothers Tim Tanner (Sue) and Ric Tanner, as well as nieces Jennifer (Todd), Jamie, Morgan, Harlee, Emma and nephews Carson and Kaden. He was preceded in death by his parents Gert Gotham Tanner (Harry Eliopoulos), and Paul Tanner, nephew Jimmy Tanner, son-in-law Richard Crews and sister-in-law Ann Tanner.
Gary found his love for baseball early on, playing passionately at Indian River High School and in early college years. Beyond sports, he was active in band as a trumpet player and enjoyed the camaraderie of a large group of friends. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Brockport in August 1974. Earning his degree was a lifetime accomplishment, a pursuit he instilled in his daughters and grandchildren.
Gary had a rich and varied career, beginning at Eastman Kodak in Sales, a position that took the family to Louisiana and Texas where the circle of friends continued to grow. His skill in sales continued at Plano Lincoln Mercury and later, he owned several restaurants and bars. Perhaps one of his favorite roles was that of a Plano ISD bus driver. For many years he drove the Plano East High School Band to Friday night games as well as hundreds of children to school each day. The amazing group of friends he gained as a bus driver is treasured. He loved attending the Wednesday dinner group. After he retired, his desire to meet new people was fulfilled as a part-time Uber driver.
Known for his love of fun, Gary was an avid golfer in his younger years. The golf course was his happy place. The Tanner Girls as they were known have memories of days at the pool, driving the golf cart and charging snacks to Dad’s account. He loved 60's music and there was always dancing and singing to go along with it! Gary was a dedicated fan of the Texas Rangers, New York Giants, and golfer Jordan Spieth. When he no longer played, golf was always on TV, a passion that culminated in a memorable trip to The Masters with his daughters in 2017.
Gary was known for his generosity with friends and family and his smile that could light up a room. Friends and family remember his laugh and speak of how they can still hear him today. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Patricia (Crowley) Rosengrants was born December 6, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to parents Thomas Edgar and Rita Eleanor (Finan) Crowley.
Pat was born to proud veteran parents. Rita and Thomas Crowley were both home from overseas after serving their country in WWII. Pat was the oldest of five children and grew up in a loving Catholic family. Stuffed in the family station wagon, the annual family vacation was a highlight of the year. She was part of an extended family with the Finan and Crowley Clans, that included 17 aunts and uncles, 36 first cousins, and countless 2nd cousins. Love, laughter, and family were always plentiful. As the oldest of five and baby-sitter of many, Pat’s role as a caretaker began at an early age. Pat was a proud graduate of Mother McAuley High School in Chicago, Illinois. After high school, she attended Chicago Teacher’s College.
Soon after, she met Bob Bieschke, and went on to marry him on a snowy day in January 1968, and they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where Bob began a career in electrical engineering. Ten months later, their first son, Bobby, was born. Only 6 months after Bob was born, they moved to Texas where they bought their first home in Plano. A few years later the family grew with their second son, Tom. In 1975, Stephen was born, and the world changed for the Bieschke family. Stephen was born with spina bifida. He had many surgeries and medical conditions in his early years. Stephen was a joy and a blessing, and he brought the family closer together. Pat’s faith and the family grew stronger. In 1976, Pat and Bob were founding members of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Community. Through the church, Pat found another of her true callings and began a lifetime of service through many ministries in the church. While Pat and Bob were far from their family in Chicago, through the Church, they met their “Texas Family”, whom they shared holidays and special events, that added to the love and laughter in their home. Pat was a loving and active mother to her boys and the other kids in the neighborhood. The Bieschke house was always a gathering point for the boys and their friends.
As the boys grew up, Pat worked for many years at the Church. After the boys were grown, Pat continued her volunteer work at the church, but expanded on her career as an accountant. In the nineties, Pat’s faith and many friendships deepened while she met the challenges in her life.
Pat was blessed and met David Rosengrants in 2003, and they were married in 2004. Pat was excited to gain a stepdaughter, Heather. Pat and David shared 20 great years, in which they had many exciting adventures together, and some great travel experiences with family and friends. Some highlights were the Sistine Chapel, an Alaskan adventure including a trip to the Arctic Circle, a river cruise down the Danube, attending the Passion Play in Germany, family Christmases in Whitefish, Montana, and recently a 21-day trip from Italy to the Canary Islands, back to the US.
Ever the caretaker, Pat was a doting Grandmother. She loved taking care of her grandchildren, watching them compete and play sports, cooking, baking, and making crafts with them. As a fierce competitor, a highlight for Grammy and all of her grandchildren was any kind of game or cards.
Pat and David’s other passions included hosting and entertaining, weekly card games and meals with friends. The center of their life was always the Lord. They deepened their relationship by serving the Lord through leading bible studies and ministries with the Church. Recently, Pat was very active with the Funeral and Stephen ministries. Pat also filled her time with many close friends with whom she had regular book clubs, church meetings, card games, and coffee groups.
Pat touched so many lives. She was beloved by friends and family. She is now with the Lord.
Pat is survived by her husband David Rosengrants; sons Robert Bieschke and his wife Diana and Thomas Bieschke and his wife Stephanie; stepdaughter Heather Grubbs; grandchildren Taylor Bieschke and his wife Brooke, Ethan, Jake, Will and Sam Bieschke and Morgan Grubbs; brother Thomas Crowley and his wife Sheri; sister Jeane Breen and her husband Bill. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Stephen Bieschke, sister Sue Ritze and brother Jim Crowley.
There will be a Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary that begins at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2024, followed by a visitation at Allen Family Funeral Options.
There will be a funeral Mass to celebrate Pat’s life at 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas with Rev. Harold “Harry” Dean Lees passed away February 15, 2024 at the age of 85 in Dallas, Texas. He was born October 26, 1938 in Versailles, Missouri to William Wray Lees and Matilda Pickett.
Harry grew up in West Henrietta, New York where he graduated from high school. After high school, Harry worked during the day and attended college at night. While pursuing his degree in Electrical Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology, Harry married Ann, the love of his life, on August 3, 1963. A few years later, they adopted their son, Doug, and soon to follow were two daughters Marybeth and Kathy.
Harry spent the majority of his engineering career working for Xerox in New York, Texas, and California. While at Xerox, Harry invented the technology that would later be used in the early Kindle screens. The patent can be found framed and hanging in his garage. He also designed ergonomic keyboards at Xerox even though his family knew Harry wasn’t the most proficient typist. Harry was the smartest man many knew. He could fix anything. He was the one phone call to make if something was broken.
Harry was proud of his work at Xerox, but his most important achievement was his family. He was a loving husband – a romantic at heart. He saved the menu from the restaurant where he and Ann ate on their wedding night. After many years of marriage, when Ann’s wedding ring was uncomfortable on her finger, he turned it into a heart necklace that included her engagement diamond. He would give her flowers on St. Patrick’s Day because that is the day they met.
Harry also made sure his kids knew he loved and valued them. He was involved in their sports and activities. He took his family fishing, bowling, to play mini golf, watch movies, and attend sporting events. Harry’s family has many fun memories of camping in the pop-up camper and road trips where they stopped at many tourist attractions – like the largest peanut in the world or smallest violin in existence.
Harry’s biggest joy came from his 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Hearing about their lives and spending time with them was a highlight of his life. He printed so many photos of his family that there is no more room on the refrigerator.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Lees of Plano, Texas; son, Doug Lees and wife, Karen of Frisco, Texas; daughter, Marybeth Cleveland and husband, Lee of Derwood, Maryland; daughter, Kathy Zinecker and husband, Steve of Flower Mound, Texas; grandchildren, Allison, Angela, Jesika, Emm, Cassie, Sam, and Grace; great grandchildren, Ella and Mason and numerous other loving family and friends.
Harry spent many years volunteering his time and talent for the Grey Matters Brain Tumor Support Group after his son, Doug, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Grey Matters North Texas Brain Tumor Support Group or Head for the Cure.
A Funeral Mass for Harry will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton 2700 West Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023. Please join us after the Mass for a lunch reception at the church.
Phillip Eugene Jordan, 81, went home to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 25, 2024 after a three-month battle with brain cancer. He was born in El Paso, Texas on September 3, 1942 to Beatrice and Antonio Jordan.
Phil graduated from Jefferson High School in El Paso and attended the University of New Mexico on a basketball scholarship. He graduated from UNM in 1964 with a degree in psychology. Upon graduation, Phil worked at the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, which was later named the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Phil provided guidance to state, federal and local agencies on issues dealing with money laundering and homeland security related to drug trafficking within the state of Texas.
Upon his retirement, Phil consulted on international and domestic security issues, as well as serving as a senior advisor to the Texas Attorney General.
The murder of Phil’s brother, Bruno, became the subject of the book Down by the River, authored by Chuck Bowden. The incident was prosecuted as a carjacking, but the family believed it was a hit ordered by drug traffickers.
Phil had a passion for justice and dedicated his life to helping reduce the illegal drug trade in the United States. He spoke at various schools, encouraging kids of all ages to stay in school and choose sports and books over drugs.
Phil also loved basketball and the Cowboys and was heavily involved in youth sports, spending his spare time coaching, score keeping, and cheering on his grandkids. Phil rarely ever missed a game. His family will miss his generous heart, exuberant personality, pockets full of candy, and watching him cheer on his grandkids on the sidelines. For you, we will “Keep the faith.”
Dad, Nono, GP, Phil, Felipe, Mr. Jordan, and Special Agent in Charge is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Beatrice, his brother Bruno, his sister Christina, and his son Sean. He is survived by sister Virginia, brother Tony, daughters Brigitte and Kelly, and son; grandchildren Briana, Sixten, Callista, KJ, Kason, and Kaine; great grandchildren EB and Maverick, and several nieces and nephews. Valerie was a woman of many talents and accomplishments, her greatest of all in 2012, the birth of her son, Hayden Lawrence Peters. She devoted her life to working hard so she could spoil him. Together they enjoyed reading, movies, dancing, cooking and creating specialty charcuterie boards. She had a playful spirit and also adored building and playing games with Hayden.
Valerie, known for her small but mighty personality, will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who knew her. Although she faced challenges in life, she continued to show kindness and compassion to others. She always knew how to light up a room, especially if there was music.

Joseph Francis Malec was born December 31, 1947, in Amsterdam, New York to parents Frank William and Helen Theresa (Knapik) Malec. After battling a long illness, he went to his heavenly home peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family on December 26, 2023.
He was a man of impeccable character and lived by high morals - always treating everyone with kindness and respect. Joe was very loyal to his Polish heritage and culture, loving everything Polish-related; Polka music and his precious, beloved Mom's pierogi were definitely among his favorites. He was also a drummer for a Polka band during his teen years. If anyone was proud to be Polish, it was Joe! He was also a devoted Christian and absolutely loved his beautiful Polish hometown church, St. Stanislaus where he was baptized, had his first communion, confirmation, and served as an altar boy until he left for college. He continued to attend St. Mary's all the way through high school, and then attended and graduated from Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania with a Business degree in 1968. Joe was an avid athlete and played basketball throughout high school and college. His inner strength and endurance were always evident and played a key role in his fight against Pulmonary Fibrosis.
However, after a minor injury from the sport before his junior year, he ended up in the hospital under the care of a beautiful nurse named Alice. They quickly fell in love and were married at St. Stanislaus on April 4, 1970. Together they moved to Cleveland, Ohio for his first job and within the first 3 years, his 2 daughters Kathy and Lori were born. They resided in their first home in Bay Village Ohio until 1980 and then moved to Plano, Texas where they have lived ever since.
Over his 44-year professional career as a marketing and advertising executive, he worked for many major corporations - Glidden Paint, Forest City, Burger King, Gray Advertising, Grandy's, KFC, Church's Chicken, Blockbuster Video, J. Walter Thompson Advertising, Golden Chick, Dominos, Sonic, and Pearl Vision. He absolutely loved traveling for work and became close to everyone he met while doing so. He would come home bragging that he had seen every part of the country - from big cities to little towns in every state. Joe had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor. If you were a witness to it, you will remember! He enjoyed "reeling you in" with a joke and loved watching you realize he was just kidding even more. He liked joking so much he even began a fun tradition when his grandchildren were young. After cooking every Sunday night dinner, which he loved to do, he asked for everyone to bring a joke. Everyone had to recite theirs before they could start eating and that made for a lot of fun, laughter, and priceless memories! His favorite silly joke was "Why did the mushroom hangout at the bar?" His answer: "Because he was a fungi."
Joe also loved watching sports every chance he could get. He followed the Duke Blue Devils basketball team and spent many wedding anniversaries watching March Madness. He was an avid Cleveland Browns & Indians fan - never giving up even through many bad seasons. He wore a Browns T-shirt that read "Please God - just win one before I die." Ironically, before he passed away, he was overjoyed to find out the Browns had actually made the playoffs once more. He's definitely rooting for them from Heaven and maybe that's what it will take for them to win the Super Bowl this year!
Joe certainly knew how to be a friend to many. Known affectionately as 'Moose,' a nickname passed down from his father, Joe embodied strength, resilience, and a gentle spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him. He still had ongoing close relationships with high school friends, college friends, and work colleagues; many of which supported him through his illness. His favorite hobby was collecting toy trucks and he enjoyed going to every flea market he saw. Joe also loved going to the lake and the ocean, and he and Alice cherished every cruise they ever went on. Together, they were able to see a lot of the world that way!
Unfortunately, right after he retired in 2017, Joe was diagnosed with terminal Pulmonary Fibrosis. He remained an active member of the PF Warriors support group and it was an integral part of helping it grow to where it is now, an international support group for others with his condition around the world. They were a priceless gift of support throughout his journey.
He received the incredible gift of a lung transplant at UT Southwestern in May of 2021 but had multiple complications resulting in spending over a year in the transplant unit. The medical team there was EXCELLENT and many of them became like family to Joe and Alice. Joe and his family will be forever grateful to the staff of IO BLUE. Despite impeccable care, he continued to decline and just wished to be home. After careful consideration, his wife and his loving family brought him home on September 23, 2022! Joe spent time with his friends and family, receiving endless in-person visits and phone calls from across the country. At home, he was also able to spend time with his beloved German Shepard, Daisy. They listened to his favorite music, watched sports, and above all, Joe made it through his favorite holiday - Christmas! Words can't describe how much he will be missed, and we thank the Lord for who he was and for fulfilling his final wish. Heaven will be a better place with him in it.
Joe was a true gift to all who knew him in his life and is survived by his loving wife Alice Faye Malec of 53 years; daughters Kathryn Lydia Lenoir and her husband Billy and Lori Ann Moore; grandchildren Ashley Elizabeth Lenoir, Kaitlin Nicole Hardin and her husband Travis, Scott Joseph, Allyson Ann and Ryan Michael Malec Moore; sister Marcia Ann Kryzak and her husband Joe; nephew Daniel Joseph Kryzak and his wife Jennifer; and great nephews Jacob and Parker Kryzak. He was preceded in death by his parents, his godmother Ann Margaret Knapik, and his godfather John Malec. Joe's family meant more to him than anything!
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. led by Deacon Norm Smith at Allen Family Funeral Options.
There will be a Funeral Mass held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas with The Rev. Bruce Bradley officiating. It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, William “Bill” Rivera Ragan, who left this world on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the age of 85.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, and brother. He was born on January 28, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to his loving parents, Marshall and Carmen Ragan and grew up surrounded by the warmth of family.
Bill had a passion for music, art, and the great outdoors. Beginning in middle school and continuing on into his 80s, he sang in barbershop quartets, a locally popular band known as The Common Good in his 30s and 40s and was an active member in The Diamond State Chorus in Little Rock, Arkansas and, after moving to Texas in 2006, an enthusiastic member of the Men of Note Chorus in Plano, Texas for many years. In addition to singing, he was a talented guitarist and passed his love of music onto his children and grandchildren. Bill also loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, sailing, and camping in addition to traveling, spending time with family and friends, and playing Canasta. Bill never met a stranger and within a few minutes of meeting him, people felt his warmth and his genuine interest in getting to know them. He was a great storyteller and had a wonderful sense of humor which persisted even as his health was failing.
He was an artist and used his skill in many capacities throughout his various career endeavors. In his early years, he worked at North American Aviation in Tulsa, OK as a draftsman and subsequently worked for Glenn Pray as part of the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Automobile Company. This was followed by positions in the Promotions departments of two different television stations in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Little Rock, Arkansas. After this, he was a successful realtor and then transitioned into self-employment as a home builder and remodeler where he found fulfillment combining his creative talent with his love for connecting with and helping people. Bill was a hard worker and loved to stay busy, always looking ahead to the next project. He worked into his early 80s before stepping away from his business and setting his sights on refurbishing his beloved sailboat in hopes of returning it to the water in the company of his children.
Bill was an active member of several catholic churches over his lifetime. He and his wife Jo Lynne attended Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock, Arkansas and participated in numerous mission trips to Honduras during their time there. Bill was able to use his fluent Spanish and building skills to impact the community of Trujillo in a meaningful way and in the development of lasting personal relationships with many of the people there. After moving to Dallas in 2006, Bill and Jo Lynne joined St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church where Bill has served as a faithful usher for many years.
Bill is survived by his cherished wife, Jo Lynne, with whom he shared 29 years of love and companionship. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children and grandchildren including son Chris Ragan and wife Lucretia, their children Dylan and Madison, and their precious granddaughter Parker; daughter Stephanie Ragan Goeters and her husband Chris with children Joshua and Evan; son Jeff Ragan and wife Christina with Jeff’s children Nicholas and Sydney, and stepdaughter Leslie Garner with husband Garrett and children Bryan, Olivia, and Reese. Bill also leaves behind the mother of his adult children, Fran Ragan, and several dear friends, many of whom he had known since childhood, including Charles “Chuck” Fornier, whom Bill considered the “brother” he never had. Bill was preceded in death by his loving sister, Jo Hodgson, who passed away in 2020, and his wonderful parents, Marshall and Carmen Ragan.
Bill's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of the many people who were fortunate enough to know him. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and strength in the days ahead to all who loved him.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate Bill's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church 2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas with a reception to follow in the parish hall.
